This policy explains what we do with your personal information when you contact us or we carry out work for you. We have tried to write it in plain terms rather than legal boilerplate.

Who controls your information

Bromley Plumbing & Gas Engineer is a trading name of R.W. Miller Plumbing & Heating Ltd, registered in England & Wales under company number 14695046, registered office G18, 8 Lombard Road, Wimbledon, London SW19 3TZ. That company is the data controller responsible for the information described below.

What we collect

When you fill in the quote form on this site, we collect:

• Your name
• Your telephone number
• Your postcode
• The type of work you are enquiring about

If you telephone us, we hold your number and whatever you tell us about the job. If we carry out work for you, we keep a record of the property address, the work done, the appliances involved and the invoice.

We do not ask for payment card details through this website, and we never will. If a page ever asks you for card details or a password, it is not us.

Why we hold it, and our lawful basis

• To answer your enquiry and give you a price. The lawful basis is that you have asked us to take steps before entering into a contract.
• To carry out and record work. The lawful basis is performing our contract with you.
• To meet our legal obligations. Gas work must be notified to Building Control through the Gas Safe Register, and gas safety records must be retained. The lawful basis is legal obligation.

We do not use your details for marketing unless you have specifically asked us to, and we do not sell or rent them to anyone.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not become jobs: up to 12 months, then deleted.
• Job records, invoices and certificates: six years. This is so we can honour warranty and guarantee claims, and because HMRC requires records to be kept.
• Gas safety records: at least two years, as required by the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998.

Who else sees it

Very few people. This website is hosted by Vercel, whose servers process the request when you load a page. Where we notify gas work, the details go to the Gas Safe Register and on to Building Control, because the law requires it. Where a manufacturer warranty needs registering, the appliance and property details go to that manufacturer so the cover starts.

This site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google and your IP address is visible to them as part of that.

We also use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — which pages people read, which searches bring them here, and whether the enquiry form works. Google processes that on our behalf and it involves your IP address and a cookie identifier. We do not use it for advertising and we do not run advertising trackers or social media pixels.

Cookies

This site sets cookies for Google Analytics. They record an anonymous identifier so repeat visits are not counted as new people, and they expire on their own. We do not set advertising cookies.

You can block them in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out browser add-on, and the site will work exactly as it does now.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

• Give you a copy of the information we hold about you
• Correct anything that is wrong
• Delete it, where we are not required to keep it for legal or safety reasons
• Restrict or object to how we use it

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
